Kahungunu Beach Party

This free concert on Marine Parade next to National Aquarium, Napier drew a great turnout of 2,000 concert goers. Internationally reknown tribute artist Ashley Puriri headlined this outdoor concert impersonating Barry White and singing his hits including “You’re the first, my last, my everything” . The performance was first class and supported by amazing female vocalists and a fantastic 10 piece orchestra. Other performers included Aaron Edwards on saxophone, 30 strong Rezpect Dancers, female vocalists Toni Huata and Mahinarangi Lawrence and the Pania Waiwhetu Band who presented a superb medley of Stevie Wonder and Labelle hits.

The backdrop to this waterfront concert was the Pacific Ocean with four waka hourua in full sail against a wonderful sunset. As the waka hourua came in sight Melbourne based soloist James Kerr brought the house down with his rendition of “We Know The Way” from the Disney Moana.
